Drayton Valley residents are invited to attend the Truth and Reconciliation Day events taking place on Monday, Sept. 30, at the Drayton Valley Omniplex Curling Rink.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the program will start at 6:30 p.m., featuring Metis guest speaker, Dan Cardinal and First Nations guest speaker, Wanda Schiller.
Organizers say there will also be performances by the Soaring Hawk Drum Group, O’Chiese Traditional Dancers and Metis Fiddler, Alex Kusturok.
Residents are also encouraged to check out the Out West Bannock Bites Food Truck while browsing goods from various Indigenous vendors.
Organizers also note there will be a Bi-Giwen: Truth Telling from the Sixties Scoop exhibit, showcasing stories of Indigenous children who were forcibly removed from their homes and fostered or adopted out to non-Indigenous homes.
