September 12
10:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 38 St – Police received a request for patrols due to speeding vehicles on the ring road in town. Members advising they would do so, in conjunction with town of Drayton Valley Bylaw.
5:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Police received a call for a multi-vehicle collision in the parking lot of Walmart where a child had managed to get behind the wheel of a vehicle and attempted to drive it, hitting three parked vehicles. No one was injured and the child’s mother was able to stop the child before police could arrive.
September 13
12:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Caller reporting that they located a male passed out in his vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot. Officers attended and conducted a traffic stop, administering a road side alcohol test. The driver of the vehicle was found to be impaired, failing the roadside breath test. The driver’s vehicle was subsequently seized and licence suspended in accordance with Provincial Sanctions.
9:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 36 St – Police received a call about a possible Facebook marketplace scam post, where the individual was attempting to sell a trailer for $900 and asked for an e-transfer up front. The residents at the address provided on Marketplace were not selling a trailer and were unaware of the ad, so police advised the complainant to contact Facebook and have the ad flagged as a scam.
4:36 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 92 – Police received a call for a single vehicle collision where an SUV had driven off the road and through multiple fences. Members attended and deemed impairment not a factor in the collision. Vehicle driver was assessed by paramedics for injuries and collision forms completed.
10:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Officers patrolling located a vehicle at the Petro Can gas station with a stolen license plate on it. Officers waited until the vehicle driver returned and arrested them for possession of stolen property. The driver was also found to be a suspended driver. Michael Mackinaw, a resident of Buck Lake, was charged with possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited, and held for a telephone bail hearing. Mackinaw was remanded into custody for court at a later date.
September 14
3:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Twn 502 – Complainant called reporting their trailer that had been stolen was recovered at the provincial park. Investigation is ongoing.
September 15
September 16
5:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reporting their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight. Investigation is ongoing.
1:01 p.m. – Brazeau County – 80 RR – Complainant reporting their travel trailer was stolen sometime in the last two weeks. Investigation is ongoing.
3:52 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reporting they believe someone broke into their house a month ago and someone stole beer. Police unsure at this point what other leads they can brew up.
4:18 p.m. – Brazeau County – Call for a break-in to an oil site and theft of copper wire. Investigation is ongoing.
6:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male shoplifting and provided video surveillance to police. Investigation is underway.
September 17
11:08 a.m. – Brazeau County – Twn 482 – Complainant reporting their side-by-side was stolen sometime in the last week. Investigation is ongoing.
12:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Caller reporting a female was walking around the parking lot of Canadian Tire hitting vehicles with a piece of lumber. Members attended and located the female, arresting her and taking her back to the detachment. Appropriate charges for the damage have been laid pending court at a later date.
1:04 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported he saw a vehicle driving an hour ago that looked like one RCMP were looking for, possibly in relation to the emergency alert issued. Caller followed-up with for more information.
1:07 p.m. – Brazeau County- Hwy 620 – Continuation of calls coming from a property in the county where the resident believes things are going missing or being stolen. Members continuing to work with the property owners.
1:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Police received a third-party call reporting a student who may have brought a BB gun to school. Upon police attendance to the school and conversation with the principal and parties involved, no students had a BB gun.
4:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Complainant called reporting damage to her house window with an unknown origin. Matter is currently under investigation.
7:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reporting shoplifting, where a female shopper had run out of the store with a bag of things. Matter is under investigation.
September 18
2:48 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Police were called for shoplifting where two people shoved items in their pockets before getting aggressive with the store clerks when confronted. Photos and surveillance provided by the store and the investigation is underway.
7:43 p.m. – Brazeau County – Violet Grove – Complainant reporting their vehicle was damaged sometime overnight. Police looking into the circumstances.
11:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle committing multiple traffic violations. The driver subsequently failed the roadside alcohol screening and was arrested for impaired driving. The driver’s vehicle was seized and license destroyed in accordance with provincial impaired driving sanctions. The driver then began to act belligerent in the middle of the road afterwards, and was subsequently brought back to the detachment to sober up.
