August 8
7:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reporting a theft from the liquor store, where a female had taken a bottle of rum. Surveillance obtained and police attempting to locate the female.
8:52 p.m. – Parkland County – Caller reporting they were the victim of a phone scam, where they were instructed to buy $5000 in gift cards and send the codes to someone that said they were the TD Fraud Department. Police are reminding the public that no legitimate business/bank will ever ask you to clear debts or confirm banking information by asking you to buy gift cards.
9:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Police received a report of a silver BMW racing through the residential area and throwing garbage out of the vehicle. Police were unable to locate the vehicle initially, but the following day it was found and a traffic stop conducted. Vehicle occupants had a discussion with police about their behaviour.
9:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Police located a stolen motorcycle in the Walmart parking lot that fled from police the week prior. Officers waited until the male exited the store and were able to arrest. Ryan Jacob, a resident of Lindale, AB was charged with multiple offences including flight from police, possession of stolen property and fail to comply with probation. Jacob was held for a telephone bail hearing where he was remanded into custody until his next court date.
11:01 p.m. – Brazeau County – Police were called due to the caller’s concern for someone in the residence trying to drive impaired. The caller had taken the keys from them, but were still concerned they would try and find another way to drive. Officers attended and spoke with all parties, and no one ended up driving impaired. Police are grateful for the caller’s concern for public safety in keeping impaired drivers off the road.
August 9
12:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Police were watching a known male leave 7-Eleven and get in a vehicle with a license plate that was not a match. When a traffic stop was attempted, the male fled at a high rate of speed. Police eventually located and charged Darren Kravik, a resident of Drayton Valley, with multiple criminal charges and provincial driving offences including flight from police and driving while suspended. Kravik was held for a telephone bail hearing where he was subsequently remanded into custody by a Justice of the Peace for his next court date.
6:52 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Area – Caller reporting their truck had been stolen sometime overnight, with an ATV that was in the bed of the truck. Investigation is ongoing.
9:10 a.m. – Brazeau County – 491 Twp Rd – While investigating a different matter in the area, police located a suspicious trailer on a lease road that was painted over, had a license plate that didn’t match and no visible VIN on it. The trailer was seized pending further investigation into whether or not the trailer is stolen.
12:39 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting theft of copper wire from a lease site sometime in the last two weeks. Investigations into copper wire theft ongoing.
12:50 p.m. – Brazeau County – Caller reporting that their ATV was stolen from a campsite by the Brazeau Dam sometime overnight. Investigation is ongoing.
6:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Police were called to a theft from a store, where the woman matched the description from a theft of liquor the day prior. Police patrolled the area and located Tierra Lemaigre-Scully, a resident of Spruce Grove, arresting her for both thefts and failing to comply with her active release order conditions. Lemaigre-Scully was held for a telephone bail hearing where she was later released by a Justice of the Peace for court at a later date.
6:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Police called to a store for theft of various items. Officers attended and the male was gone on arrival, but the male is known to officers. Investigation ongoing while police look for the male.
August 10
9:05 a.m. – Birchwood Area – Call received for a hit-and-run of a parked truck. ATV traffic was reported in the area during the suspected time the truck was hit.
12:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Officers patrolling observed what appeared to be a traffic obstruction by McDonald’s in town. Upon police arrival, it was learned a collision occurred, so police had all parties pull off the road and assist in completing proper documentation of the incident.
3:54 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 491 – Caller reporting that someone stole their fifth-wheel trailer. Upon hearing the details, officers advised the caller that it was the police who seized the trailer as it was subject to a criminal code investigation as a possibly stolen trailer not registered to him, and the caller is now liable to criminal charges of possession of stolen property by claiming ownership. Investigation ongoing.
August 11
2:49 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – While patrolling, officers located a vehicle travelling at excessive speeds and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle continued and began fleeing at a dangerous rate, so officers disengaged. Investigation is ongoing to locate the vehicle/driver.
2:06 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Officers patrolling located a dirt bike that was travelling on the highway with no license plate. Officers attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed driving in and out of traffic. Investigation is ongoing.
August 12
6:51 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Police received a call for a suspicious truck broken down on the highway that ended up going down a lease road. Officers attended the area and locate two people known to police that were found to be operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, both not having licenses either. Vehicle was towed and seized.
7:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Police received a call advising there were a few youths near the skate park that appeared to be lighting fires and the caller was concerned for fires spreading. An officer attended and located a few youths, that didn’t have any fires going at the time or signs of flames. Youths spoken to about dangers of uncontrolled fires.
August 13
1:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol located a truck that appeared to be taking the long way around, possibly due to impairment. Member conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver was sober, but after observing items consistent with drug trafficking both driver and passenger were arrested and the truck was searched. Members located a significant quantity of crystal meth along with other items and both males were arrested. 46-year-old Jason Gallie and 44-year-old Christopher Pederson, both of Edmonton, were held for telephone bail hearings on charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking; both males were subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court at a later date. Street value of the seized methamphetamine is estimated at $4800.
11:22 p.m. – Tomahawk area – Member on patrol located a suspicious truck at a property known to police. The member turned around to check on the truck which backed out of the driveway and took off at high speed. Member obtained the plate number but it did not match the truck. A traffic stop was attempted and member pursued but the truck was able to evade police. The member was able to determine the truck had been stolen in Sherwood Park on Aug. 8. Under investigation.
August 14
11:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Arc Bark Park – Complainant reported a dog abandoned at the park and appearing to be in distress. Member contacted animal control who already had a call and were en route to pickup the dog.
3:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported shoplifting that occurred earlier in the day. Under investigation.
6:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a female had shoplifted, then returned the items and then left on foot. Member patrolled the area but didn’t locate the female suspect. The female was located later in the day. Under investigation.
