May 23
10:54 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported theft of a booster cable from a lease site, occurred sometime over the past week.
7:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a speaker had been stolen from his car, and that he saw a suspect walking with it. Members located the known male who provided an alibi that he was at a family members residence; the alibi was verified by two others. Member advised the complainant that the male was located without the speaker and charges wouldn’t be possible.
May 24
1:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Female complainant reported herself and others were in danger and that she was hallucinating. The complainant admitted to consuming ecstasy several days prior but was otherwise not making sense or providing her address. Members located the female and transported her voluntarily to the hospital for treatment.
4:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member attended to assist firefighters with a fire near the landfill. It was determined that a male had been cooking and fell asleep, then woke up to a fire. The fire was extinguished and was deemed accidental.
9:05 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant was fencing on a rural property and located an abandoned and damaged ATM. Members attended and recovered the ATM which appeared to have been exposed to the elements for some time. Under investigation.
10:21 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member attended a business for follow-up on an unrelated matter and was advised of a shoplifting incident that is now under investigation.
10:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported receiving threatening messages from an acquaintance. The complainant did not want charges, only to have the person warned. Member warned the person that their behaviour was not appreciated.
11:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a female driving on a flat tire, that may be impaired. Members located the female later in the day and found she was sober, but didn’t have insurance or registration. Tickets were issued.
2:08 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported to another detachment an incident of domestic violence that occurred in the Drayton Valley area in April. Under investigation, charges pending.
5:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate an alleged sexual assault that occurred last fall, victim and suspect are known to each other and there is no public risk.
7:53 p.m. – Brazeau County – Berrymoor Bridge area – Complainant reported fuel stolen from a vehicle. The tank was drilled by the unidentified culprits.
9:40 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported people firing guns in a camping area near the Pembina River. Members attended and determined that the persons involved were shooting at a berm and had valid PAL’s but they were advised to put the guns away as alcohol was also involved in the evening’s events.
May 25
10:31 a.m. – Parkland County – Members attended a residence for a report of a male found deceased. Investigation found nothing criminal, the deceased had pre-existing health issues. Medical examiner advised.
1:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported receiving about 15 harassing calls from a Jamaican phone number; the caller claimed to have a package for the complainant but needed his credit card number. The complainant correctly did not provide a credit card number and the calls stopped when the complainant said he was calling police.
May 26
9:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – Easyford area – Complainant reported trespassing and damage to a fence on his property; possible suspect names provided. Under investigation.
5:25 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported finding an abandoned vehicle, possibly stolen, near the river. Member attended and determined the vehicle wasn’t abandoned or stolen as the occupants returned from walking their dog. Vehicle occupants subsequently reported some items missing from the vehicle. Under investigation.
6:26 p.m. – Cynthia area – Complainant reported a family member missing after walking off from the group that were out cutting poles for traditional use. Members attempted to locate the male using available options and resources without success until darkness. Plans were made for multiple resources to assist in the morning, but at about 1:30 a.m. the missing male was picked up on a lease road by an oil field worker. The male was taken to hospital to be assessed.
7:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported several unruly youths in a store. Members unable to attend at the time due to priority matters and updates indicated the trouble-makers had left. Under investigation for possible identification and conversations with parents.
7:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Old HW Pickup – Once again members were alerted to three males trespassing inside the destruction zone. Member attended and located three young adults who were escorted out of the fenced area and warned about trespassing and the obvious dangers of such sites.
May 27
2:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 62 St – Complainant reported finding a body in a dumpster while looking for empties. Member attended and thankfully found that the male was not deceased, but sleeping. Member woke the male and suggested he find a safer place to sleep; a warning this male has received several times already.
8:13 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Celebrity Estates – Complainant reported a suspicious male wandering around looking in windows and yards. Member attended and located the male with assistance from the complainant. The wandering male was determined to be the male reported missing the night before, who had left the hospital but now had no way home to the Spruce Grove area. Member arranged transport home for the male to prevent further such calls for service.
10:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a parcel had been fraudulently picked up from the post office, apparently her signature had been forged. Under investigation.
12:37 p.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported theft of copper wire from a lease site north of Cynthia. Under investigation.
6:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a male in an apartment parking lot with his pants off. Member attended and located the male who was wearing pants and sleeping by a dumpster (see 9:47 a.m.) but with a pair of soiled pants nearby. Member had the male clean up his mess and then gave him a courtesy ride elsewhere.
10:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member doing proactive traffic stops conducted a traffic stop and after reading a MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand a driver provided two breath samples with “caution” results. The driver was issued a three-day suspension and his vehicle was impounded.
May 28
11:09 a.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a business yard, occurred within the past month.
2:40 p.m. – Brazeau County – Anonymous report that children were being physically abused by a parent. Member liaised with CFS and learned they have an open investigation and will contact police if needed.
3:20 p.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a lease site north of Cynthia. Under investigation.
5:15 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complaint received that a mother had been assaulted by her daughter. Member attended and spoke to all parties; Mom did not want charges for what was a minor assault. Member and family believe there are some mental health issues at play. Referral made to RPACT (rural police and crisis team) and some suggestions were given on options.
6:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Dispatch reported receiving a hang-up 911 from a female reporting that there was a female with blonde hair in the trunk of a police car at a local grocery store. The dispatcher suspected there were mental health issues involved. Members on duty were able to confirm this event was not happening and noted that none of the current police vehicles have trunks. The suspected complainant resides in another community and a referral was made for follow-up by the local RPACT team.
10:59 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported harassment by a male who showed up at his door with a female, asking for his property back (see May 26 at 5:25 pm). Members attended and initially placed the suspect under arrest, but after receiving more information he was released without charges. The complainant eventually admitted to taking the other male’s property and advised where it was; the property was located and returned. Under investigation.
May 29
6:05 a.m. – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported theft of wire from a lease site.
10:11 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported copper wire and ladders stolen from several lease sites.
2:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened after information received from a complainant regarding inappropriate contact between an adult and a youth. Under investigation, no further information to be released.
4:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported three kids, approximately nine-years-old, playing in a business parking lot. The complainant suggested they play somewhere safer, the kids responded by calling her “a Karen.” Member attended and there were no kids in the parking lot or immediate area; perhaps they listened regardless of the rude reply to the complainant.
6:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Members responded to a residence due to several 911 calls being received. Investigation determined that her roommate’s boyfriend had intimidated her and threatened to slap her after a misunderstanding. Statements were taken including from a witness and when the male returned to the residence he was arrested and released on an Undertaking, charge approval pending.
May 30
7:04 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 502 – Complainant reported a horse with its leg stuck, horse not moving. Member attended and found the horse no longer stuck, but bleeding from a number of cuts on its back legs. Member located the owner of the horse who was going to deal with the injuries.
