Locals and visitors alike are invited to Alder Flats on May 25 for the community’s Rodeo & Race Meet event at the rodeo grounds.
Organizers say the Saturday will be a day packed with events such as fun kid’s rodeo events, ranch rodeo events for those 12+, a parade, pancake breakfast and evening entertainment.
Event organizer, Angela Gillespie, says there’s a lot of fun for families with kid-friendly rodeo events like mutton busting, instant rancher, calf scramble and collect-the-eggs.
“There’s going to be a bunch of kids events, it’s usually a pretty good time seeing the little ones out there giving it their all,” says Gillespie.
For youth and adults, Gillespie says around half a dozen ranch rodeo events are scheduled, all of which are timed.
Gillespie describes the Rodeo & Race Meet as the pinnacle event of the year for the small community.
“This is our first rodeo back since COVID shut us down,” says Gillespie. “We’re really putting our all into it this year to get it built back up.”
Organizers say a parade will happen at 10 a.m. with a pancake breakfast to follow. After the rodeo, a steak supper has been organized along with a dance and musical entertainment in the evening.
