3:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a vehicle speeding 70-80 km/h on 50 Avenue and almost rear-ending several vehicles. Member located the vehicle due to distinctive descriptors and issued the driver a summons to appear in court as he was a suspended driver.
8:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant attended to a family dispute. A female youth wanted to go to a friend’s residence and her older adult brother weren’t letting her. Member attended and mediated a suitable resolution.
10:02 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver heading West in an older blue SUV. Member made patrols but didn’t locate the suspect vehicle.
May 3
8:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported that overnight his car had been vandalized with spray paint. Member investigated and a 19-year-old male was arrested for mischief and given an Undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
May 4
9:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/54 Ave – Complainant reported an abandoned car parked in a gas station lot. Member attended and determined the car wasn’t stolen, owner contacted and told to have the car moved. The car was suffering from a flat tire.
10:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported an erratic driver, speeding near 49 Street. Member located the vehicle and gave the driver a warning as well as a ticket for expired registration as it had expired in December.
5:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported that there was a male in a neighbouring residence that shouldn’t be there. Member attended and determined it was the owner of the house.
6:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Rotary Park – Complainant reported a suspicious male in the park, occurred about an hour ago. Complainant reported that a male wanted to sit close to a child and asked questions such as how many children came to the park. The male also wanted a picture of the complainant. Based on the descriptors provided members patrolled the area but no such person was located. Note: the Drayton Valley RCMP are aware of the social media interest surrounding this report and the connections made to allegations that there are “26 open cases of human trafficking” in the area; the Drayton Valley RCMP would again like to assure the local residents that these reports are not factual.
May 5
5:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male and female had been shoplifting and the female ran out with a basket of items. Descriptors were provided of the pair that left on bicycles, but they were not located. No other investigative options.
May 6
2:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Member was fueling up at Fas Gas and observed a female in a parked and running vehicle throw garbage out the window. The female then got out in sock feet and stumbled across the street to 7/11. After fueling up the member initiated a traffic stop and obtained two breath samples, which were both “fail.” The female driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension and the car was impounded. Her learners’ driver’s license was also seized.
10:11 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported threats made by an employee of a company toward a manager. Member investigated and a male was arrested for uttering threats. After further investigation the male was released to appear in court at a later date.
5:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported a male laying down in the park across near the fire hall. Members attended and identified the known male. He was fine, just taking a break.
9:33 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Members attended a rural property to assist paramedics with a female injured in a farming accident.
May 9
12:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that a male had attempted to break into a residence using an axe on the door. Members attended and determined that the suspect had got into an argument/fight with persons in the complainant’s residence, and after being unhappy with the outcome, returned and tried to break the door with an axe. Members observed four large gash marks through the door corroborating the allegations. Members located the suspect next door at his residence but he refused to come out to speak to police. A warrant was obtained to enter and arrest the male. Members gained entry by force and arrested the suspect and a roommate. Both males are currently in custody awaiting a telephone bail hearing.
