November 23
11:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported an employee of her store received a creepy phone call the previous afternoon; the male caller asked a bunch of questions and then told the employee he was masturbating. Member investigated and spoke to the male associated to the number who denied involvement and has no history of any criminal activity. The member involved believed it was a case of “spoofing” (disguising the actual phone number with another)
12:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported an unknown suspect broke into her vehicle overnight and stole some cash. Complainant believes they may have tried to steal the car. Member investigated but found nothing to identify a suspect.
1:01 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that while stopped with her car open, a truck pulled up and a male looked as if he was going to get into her car, but ran back to the truck after seeing her. Complainant believed the suspect was planning to steal her car. Under investigation.
9:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a truck with an obstructed plate. The driver was read a MAS demand (mandatory alcohol screening) and provided two samples, both resulting in a “caution” result. Driver was issued a three-day suspension and his truck was impounded. #drivesober.
9:53 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80/Twp Rd 491 – Member attended to assist a Brazeau County Peace Officer at a traffic stop after the Peace Officer clocked a male doing 189 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The member issued the male driver an Appearance Notice for a criminal charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
November 24
12:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members responded to assist Paramedics with a deceased elderly female. Nothing suspicious was noted, Medical Examiner was consulted but not examining further.
12:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a male exposed himself to her kids who were in her vehicle. Member attended and identified the male who said he had to urinate and couldn’t hold it any longer. Member updated the complainant who advised she didn’t think it was an intentional act. The male was warned about his behaviour.
2:10 p.m. – Brazeau County – Boggy Hall area – Member attended to assist fire with a wellhead that had caught fire. Member arrived and found operators and firefighters had the situation under control and did not require police assistance.
1:48 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported some items stolen from a business yard. Suspects had removed the two items from the yard via a sled and then loaded them into a waiting vehicle. Under investigation.
10:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22/58 Ave – Member on patrol checked a suspicious truck and determined the driver was suspended and the truck had no valid insurance or registration. The truck was towed and the driver issued several tickets requiring a court appearance.
November 25
2:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported an intoxicated male outside an apartment building ringing buzzers repeatedly. Members arrived and found a happy drunk guy who had been playing a prank on his friend by making his buzzer ring repeatedly. Members gave the male a ride home to prevent continuation of the fun.
November 26
1:56 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Member on patrol observed a known male and conducted police queries on him, determining that he was wanted by Edmonton Police. The male was arrested and dealt with as per EPS request.
8:54 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Complainant reported a vehicle had first been stopped on the highway with the driver slumped over the console, then headed South driving erratically. Members attended and located the vehicle. The driver tried to flee when members arrived but then pulled over. Member formed the grounds to search the vehicle, which resulted in 34-year-old Eun Jihn being charged with multiple counts of Failing to Comply with Probation Order as well as one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. Jihn was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a Justice of the Peace to appear at a later date.
10:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member flagged down by a female who advised there was a cat in the donation bins in the Dodson Plaza parking lot. The complainant had also told a passerby who had called 911. A member known to be a “cat whisperer” worked with firefighters to get the cat out safely. The cat was pawsitively fine after the ordeal and was taken to the animal shelter.
November 27
8:40 a.m. – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported seeing two possibly lost cows while hunting the day before. Member reaching out to possible owners in the area.
10:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 55A St – Complainant reported three people yelling, swearing and threatening staff at the Warming Hearts. Complainant did not want charges but all three are being issued Trespass notices.
2:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a Skidoo that was stolen a couple years ago but never reported to police is now for sale on Marketplace. The seller is known to the complainant. Member unable to contact the complainant, file under investigation.
4:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her estranged husband is likely tracking her. Under investigation.
7:55 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported a break and enter that occurred sometime earlier in the day. Member attended; several items missing from the home. Under investigation.
November 28
11:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a neighbour had been trespassing on her property. Under investigation.
12:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55A St – Complainant reported a 1999 PJ flat deck gooseneck trailer stolen from a yard, sometime after November 23. Under investigation.
2:12 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 St – Complainant reported a 2013 PJ deck over trailer stolen from a business yard. Under investigation.
3:25 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Member on patrol noticed a female in an older black SUV wave at him. The member queried the plate which came back to a different vehicle, after which a traffic stop was conducted. The female driver was issued multiple tickets as she had no drivers license, had no insurance and couldn’t prove ownership or valid registration. The vehicle was towed until ownership can be determined. The officer did appreciate the wave though.
November 29
8:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to assist Corrections Canada as a male on parole will be working in the area and will be required to report to police while in the area.
10:09 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 85 – Complainant reported a concern for people walking on the road that didn’t appear properly dressed. Several females were walking with a truck following, the truck appeared to have been in an accident. A second call was received reporting that a male came to a residence looking for a ride. Members attended and located the persons on the road. After the matters were investigated, four persons were arrested and charged, with three being held for telephone bail hearings. A 19-year-old female was charged with two drug offences and two counts of failing to comply with a youth probation order; she was subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace to appear later. A 26-year-old female was arrested and charged for two counts of possession of Identity document as well as for a warrant out of Rocky Mountain House RCMP hearing; she was remanded in custody until the following day. A 26-year-old male was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and disobeying a court order; he was released on an Undertaking to appear in court at a later date. Finally, an 18-year-old female was arrested and charged with eight different offences under the Criminal Code, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Traffic Safety Act; she was remanded until a court date in December. The truck involved was damaged and towed from the scene.
10:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to report that someone had stolen his identity and opened credit accounts under other names; though strangely the accounts are being paid on time and his credit score is increasing. Under investigation.
12:48 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported a dispute with a neighbour who has now made threats against the complainant. Under investigation.
10:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported someone had been snooping around her yard, she banged on the window and scared the person off. Member patrolled the area.
