September 14
9:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Members received a report of a missing youth. Complainant reported her 14-year-old son had not been home for two days. Members tracked down the 14-year-old, he was safe. Boy advised to call his parents.
10:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Two files created for individuals who failed to attend court. Warrant’s for their arrest issued.
9:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Impaired driver called in leaving the Oil Country Tap House. Complainant reported that he had been served alcohol for the past 2 hours and had now gotten into his white Ford truck and was driving away. The staff at the OCT had tried to call him a cab but he refused, telling them he would walk. Members located the truck and stopped it. Driver blew a fail on the Roadside screening device. Provincial sanctions laid against the driver and his truck is seized for 30 days.
September 15
8:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 40 St – Complainant reported a break in to his truck overnight and wallet taken. Mastercard was used at three locations in Drayton Valley. Members investigating.
10:13 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported buying a trailer and noticing the VIN is different than on the transfer paper. Under investigation.
9:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reported a male walking around with an axe. Members located the known male. He uses the axe for chopping wood and it had fallen out of its holder while walking. Nothing criminal noted.
September 16
11:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Member conducted a traffic stop on an SUV normally operated by a known male. The male and a female were outside the vehicle when the traffic stop was conducted; both were arrested as the male was known to not have a license and the female was breaching a previous Release Order. Investigation at the scene lead to a search of the vehicle which yielded cash, drugs, drug trafficking related items and a small quantity of ammunition. 21-year-old Ashton Cardinal and 28-year-old Jade Ashby were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and held for bail hearings. Both were remanded in custody to appear at a later date.
4:10 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Complainant reported a male standing at a driveway entrance yelling for the past half hour. Member attended and located the male who refused to provide his name and subsequently resisted arrest. A second member attended and was able to identify the male from a previous encounter. 37-year-old Dustin Brooks was arrested and charged with Failing to Comply with a Release Order, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing a Peace Officer. Brooks was also arrested on a number of outstanding warrants from elsewhere. Brooks was held for a bail hearing and remanded in custody.
5:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a known female who had been discharged and had returned looking for more drugs and was refusing to leave. Complainant then advised that the female had left. Members attended but the female had become stealthy like a Ninja and wasn’t located in the area.
6:17 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Members responded along with Fire and EMS to a rollover into the ditch. An SUV pulling a trailer had a tire issue which caused the driver to lose control of the units and hit the ditch. No apparent injuries, which was lucky as it didn’t appear the driver had been wearing a seatbelt. #seatbeltssavelives
11:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reported a group of about 20 people fighting and yelling at the Skate Park. Alcohol was a possible factor. Members attended but could not locate any youth related to any fights. More Ninja’s perhaps.
September 17
12:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Greenwood – Complainant reported her boyfriend came home intoxicated and was throwing things around. Members attended and determined that nothing physical had occurred, though the complainant didn’t want him there and wanted police to deal with him. In speaking to the male, he disclosed being assaulted earlier in the week by the complainant. Due to there being available evidence, the complainant was arrested and charged with assault. She was released to appear in court at a later date with appropriate conditions and the pair were separated.
3:26 a.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported neighbours screaming and yelling at each other from a nearby trailer to where the complainant was spending the night with a friend. Members attended the area but were unable to locate any disturbance or the complainant at the location he claimed to be at. Revenge of the Ninjas?
11:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported someone attempted to steal his truck overnight. Member investigated and determined the suspect was captured on nearby surveillance but had concealed his face and was wearing gloves.
3:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported that the female who had made like a Ninja approximately 22 hours earlier had returned and was causing issues. It was reported that she was acting violent, being belligerent and demanding more drugs for a migraine. Members had to respond from Tomahawk where they had been dealing with the previous kerfuffle and found that the female had once again left when police were called. Staff likely to issue a mental health act warrant.
5:18 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a road rage incident; a BMW had been tailgating and when passing threw a rock at the complainant’s car. Member attended the residence of the BMW owner and determined his son had been driving. A stunting ticket was issued.
5:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member was called to cells where a male who had been previously remanded in custody had admitted to having a pair of brass knuckles. He reported being tired of them in his underwear and wanted them gone before he was transported to Edmonton Remand Centre. Member seized the item and charged the male with yet another offence. Members can only speculate where these brass knuckles were concealed as the male had been thoroughly searched when first lodged in cells.
September 18
1:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Members on patrol observed a female approach a male who she had no contact conditions with. When members arrested the female, she tried to run away but was quickly apprehended. 24-year-old Victoria Rain was arrested and held for a bail hearing on three charges; Failing to Comply with Probation, Failing to Comply with a Release Order and Resisting Arrest. Rain was remanded in custody to appear at a later date.
2:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol noticed a suspicious truck parked at a sketchy location. Member determined the truck was stolen from Maskwacis in mid July. Member seized the truck for return to the owner.
6:57 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported an older male walking down the highway with no shoes on. EMS was requested to attend. Members determined that the elderly male had been reported missing in Sherwood Park the previous morning. The disoriented male was taken to hospital to be treated and assessed and his family was advised. His van was located nearby.
4:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50A St – Complainant reported locating a deceased male in a treed area. Members attended with EMS and confirmed the male was deceased. Death not suspicious, Medical Examiner investigating further. Next of Kin notification completed.
5:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a suspicious male trying to sell copper out of the back of a U-Haul. The male had left the complainant’s business, but the U-Haul had been observed at the Coach Motel. The U-Haul was later retrieved by a U-Haul representative as the rental contract had expired. Under investigation.
8:34 p.m. – Tomahawk – Members attended a residence to arrest a male on a traffic warrant due to an unpaid fine. The male attempted to run but was unsuccessful in his attempt.
9:30 p.m. – Brazeau County – Powerhouse Road area – Complainant reported a break and enter to an industrial facility. Under investigation.
September 19
12:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 62 St – Complainant had been working in a building and heard a semi leaving the yard. He had been alerted by gears grinding and was able to report the truck headed North on Hwy 22. Members patrolled as far as Hwy 16 and the truck was located abandoned on the highway. A second call came in from a male who said people had been after him so he stole the truck. A passing truck driver who picked up the male called Evansburg RCMP who were able to locate and arrest the male after that driver stopped to await police. The male was transported back to Drayton Valley where he was held in cells to sober up and subsequently released to appear in court at a later date.
8:44 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 85 – Complainant reported being defrauded of $700. Complainant sold tires online to an unknown person for $750. The purchaser sent a cheque electronically which he deposited, after which he was to ship the tires via a mover. The complainant deposited the cheque and sent $700 to the “movers.” A few days later the cheque bounced and the “movers” never arrived. Some red flags were missed by the complainant.
8:57 a.m. – Brazeau County – area of the dam – Complainant reported his company truck had been stolen. Complainant was able to provide GPS tracking and the truck was located abandoned on the O’Chiese First Nation. Truck recovered by Rocky Mtn House RCMP. Under investigation.
10:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported tenants of a building having damaged laundry machines trying to steal money. Under investigation.
11:45 a.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported gravel stolen from a lease site. Under investigation.
September 20
4:40 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported a male rummaging in her backyard. Members attended and while clearing sheds on the property an intoxicated male walked back onto the property, who the complainant believed was the suspect. Members arrested the male for Mischief and Theft and held him in cells due to him being very intoxicated. A speaker belonging to the complainant was located on the steps of a residence nearby where the suspect was staying. The suspect made himself more charming to the members who attended by calling them every name in the book and then urinating in the back of the police car.
5:27 p.m. – Violet Grove – Hwy 620 – Members attended a two-vehicle collision with EMS and Fire. Two vehicles were heading East, one was turning North on RR 80 and was rear-ended by the other. No major injuries but extensive damage to both vehicles. Under investigation.
September 21
12:31 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported a verbal altercation ongoing for the past hour in an apartment. Members attended to deal with the situation and while doing so, observed evidence of drug trafficking. 40-year-old Tracy Starrett was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on eight new charges including four trafficking offences, three offences related to fraudulent possession of credit cards and one for obstructing a peace officer. Starrett was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court at a later date.
