Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. June 22
4:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Third party report that a male was being threatened with weapons by a male and female. Member attended and found no assault ongoing and no immediate threats; this was apparently related to a misunderstanding over a sweater days earlier.
10:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a male with a gunshot wound to his hand. Members attended and determined the elderly male had been hunting squirrel and due to tremors shot himself with a BB pellet. Not criminal.
June 23
8:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a semi with flatbed trailer driving erratically in the construction zone. Due to direction of travel Breton RCMP was advised. Company also advised of the complaint.
June 24
1:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Member attended a location on an unrelated matter and located a male suspected to be on warrants. The male identified himself very cleverly as Thomas Jefferson but the member was able to confirm he was actually 32-year-old Thomas Menzies. Menzies was subsequently arrested on multiple warrants from Drayton Valley and Edmonton; and also charged with multiple new offences including drugs, weapons, obstruction and breach charges. Menzies was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
5:53 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported that a neighbour had been pestering him all day long, wanting a puppy for free. Suspect threatened to call animal control on the complainant who is selling a litter of puppies. Member spoke to the complainant and provided some guidance and advised him there were no apparent grounds for bylaw officers to become involved.
June 25
2:09 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a wedding guest was intoxicated and behaving inappropriately at a wedding reception. Member attended and determined that other guests had appropriately summoned him a taxi and sent him home.
2:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Member on patrol queried a plate on a commonly stolen truck and found the truck properly registered and not stolen, but also noted the owner had a warrant out of Taber. Member located the male in the bar and dealt with the warrant on scene as per the wishes of the Taber police.
9:37 a.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported breaking up with her boyfriend after he got drunk and caused a scene while they were out in Edmonton. Complainant requesting police assist in retrieving her belongings from his residence. Under investigation.
June 26
10:11 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reported 5 vehicles drag racing. Members attended and located two suspect vehicles, though the drivers stated they were only taking pictures of their vehicles. The complainant provided drone video but no obvious offences were captured and the video image wasn’t great. Complainant happy with warnings being issued.
June 27
11:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported that her ex was driving around the courthouse yelling at her after family court. Members were aware that the suspect had already also called reporting his ex (the complainant) driving without a license. Member attended and found that the suspect had left the area and that the complainant claimed not to have been driving. Complainant did possess a learners license.
June 28
12:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported that his daughter damaged his vehicle after an argument with her mother. Members attended, the daughter was charged with mischief and released at scene to appear in court at a later date.
12:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members were advised of a male leaving a drinking establishment possibly impaired. Members located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver provided two breath samples, both “fail” readings. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was issued a provincial driving suspension.
10:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a truck due to the registered owner having a warrant. The driver of the truck provided two samples with results of “fail” and “caution.” The driver was issued a 3-day suspension and his truck was impounded.
June 29
12:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol stopped a truck driving without lights. The driver provided two breath samples, resulting in “caution” and “fail” readings. The driver issued a 3-day suspension and his truck was impounded. As per direction from Edmonton Police the male was arrested and released to appear in Edmonton court at a later date.
