Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. June 8
5:06 p.m. – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reporting that he stayed with someone during the evacuations and had agreed to pay rent, but admittedly did not. Now that person evicted him and he wants some of his property back. Complainant advised to seek advise from the Landlord/Tenant branch.
8:59 pm – Parkland County – Complainant reported her brother getting in her face and pushing mom around. Members attended and determined the brother had been drinking and is known to be difficult when intoxicated. Some grounds for arrest were present but the family didn’t want charges, only wanting police to talk to him about his behaviour.
June 9
9:52 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported that a female who had been previously evicted was back in her old apartment. Members attended and located the female who was issued a trespassing ticket and then apprehended under the mental health act and transported to a facility for assessment.
8:44 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver turned south from Hwy 39; vehicle speeding and crossing the line. Members unable to locate the vehicle or reach the owner who resides in Edson.
June 10
12:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Member generated file. Traffic stop conducted, driver and passenger identified and known to police. Investigation resulted in both being arrested and held for telephone bail hearings. 35-year-old Richard Dove was charged with 5 new offences including theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of a controlled substance. 23-year-old Samara Hammond was charged with 17 new offences including theft, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a controlled substance, possession of identity documents and multiple counts of failing to comply with conditions. Hammond also arrested on outstanding warrants. Both were subsequently released by Justice of the Peace to appear at a later date.
8:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – Birchwood area – Complainant reported a white El Camino speeding through the 50 km/h zone on Twp Rd 494. Many other vehicles also speeding in the area. Member attended and more patrols planned. Brazeau County Peace Officers also advised of the complaint.
10:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male who appeared to be high digging through a dumpster. Member attended and located a known male looking for cigarette butts while high on meth. Member asked that he clean up his mess and move along. Male agreed and after tidying up the dumpster’s surroundings left to his son’s residence.
June 11
1:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 Ave – Member on patrol stopped a vehicle seen swerving all over the road. The female driver provided two breath samples, both resulting in a “caution” result. The driver was issued a 72-hour suspension and her vehicle was impounded.
4:53 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Member attended to assist firefighters for a report of an excavator on fire. Fire was out on arrival, apparently caused by a burst hydraulic line.
12:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Business alarm set off by construction work ongoing. Several recent similar incidents.
12:42 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported an agitated neighbour came by saying her dog was on his property. When her son went to get the dog the male became aggressive and pointed a handgun at her son. Members attended and determined the handgun was a BB gun and was displayed because the male was allegedly threatened by complainant’s son who started freaking out. Member provided some education on how pointing something that looks like a gun could result in charges. BB gun seized for public safety.
1:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported smoke near the dump. Members advised by Dispatch that Fire was already on scene. Unable to determine who may have lit a fire as there is a homeless camp nearby. Everyone in the area warned to not light fires.
3:12 p.m. – Tomahawk – 50 St – Complainant reported a neighbour put up a sign threatening property damage, and had spray painted some pipes. Member attended and viewed the situation, determining it was a continuation of an ongoing dispute between the neighbours over a fence and property line. Member went home that night and watched a 1993 film starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
7:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant came home and found a small hole in her front window. A neighbour thought he heard people playing with a BB gun. Member spoke to the neighbour across the street who admitted he had been using a sling shot and wasn’t very good at it. He will deal with the window repair.
9:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 St – Complainant reported people in an abandoned residence causing damage. Members attended and located two youth who were warned and returned home. Under investigation.
June 12
1:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported that 2 people in a shed on her apartment property had broken the door locks so no one could enter, including her. Member attended and the complainant had gained entry. Two people were located in a shed and claimed they were allowed to be there. Member told them to leave. Under investigation, undetermined if they were involved in damaging locks.
8:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – RCMP detachment – Member located a child’s bike left at the front door by unknown person. Bike to be held for 60 days in hopes it is claimed by someone.
11:47 a.m. – Parkland County – Family member reported a male threatening to commit suicide by driving into traffic. Members attended and apprehended the male under the mental health act. He was then transported to Ponoka Centennial Centre for treatment.
2:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a shoplifter had left in new shoes, leaving his old ones on the shelf. Member unable to identify the suspect by video.
3:02 p.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported a male on a yellow quad on the road. Member attended and located a matching quad at a residence. A 14-year-old male and his mom were spoken to, male admitted to riding the quad on the highway in order to get back home. Warning given, told to review the County bylaw.
8:52 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a grey sedan tailgating, unable to maintain lane of travel. Initially reported to Evansburg but last seen heading into Drayton Valley area. Member located the vehicle southbound on Hwy 759. Female driver unable to produce a driver license but identified herself; checks showed she had a valid license with an address in Airdrie. Driver determined to not be impaired. Follow-up investigation later determined the driver had likely impersonated her sister as she had a suspended license. Under investigation, charges pending.
June 13
8:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members dispatched to a report of a deceased elderly male in a residence. Death not suspicious, matter being investigated by the Medical Examiner.
11:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported waking up to noise in her apartment, noticed her lights were on and then saw a female neighbour running down the hall. Complainant suspects jewelry was stolen. Under investigation.
1:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a known male stole money and a VLT chit from a customer. Male previously banned from the location. Suspect is known to police and now facing several new charges, relating to these events and due to breaching prior release conditions. The suspect is currently playing hide and seek with members but members are confident they will soon win this round.
8:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported that her ex had entered her residence and when she told him she was calling police, he stole her phone and left on foot. When located the male will be charged with several offences including fail to comply (he is on conditions of no contact with the complainant), theft and break and enter.
8:22 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported that two Rottweiler’s had smashed through her window, chased two of her cats into the bathroom and killed them. Dogs had been locked in the bathroom. Members attended, dogs eventually removed by the owners, who were both issued fines by Brazeau County Peace Officer. Under investigation.
7:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Male wanted for several recent offences was seen riding his bike. Member told the male to stop as he was under arrest but he chose to add yet another charge by escaping on his bike instead of simply complying with a lawful demand.
June 14
2:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported that during the evacuation his garage was broken into. A radar detector was stolen from his car and some damage was done, tools were stolen and damage was done to his house by a back yard gate.
5:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 Ave/Hwy 22 – Complainant reported he was turning left at the lights and thinks he hit a cyclist. Complainant tried to stop and talk to the male who continued on. File created in case the cyclist reports later.
6:36 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend stole cash from her car, occurred at about 6:30 am. Under investigation.
9:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St N/Hwy 22 – Complainant reported an erratic driver; white Ford camper tried to pass and almost hit the complainant. Complainant followed and “tried to pull over” the camper without success.
11:29 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 482 – Complainant reported her friend had assaulted her, threatened to cut her throat and used an axe to smash her car window. Suspect male then left on foot. Members attended and found the complainant very intoxicated and her car window undamaged. Members attended the suspects residence a distance away and found him already sleeping. Members aware that this female tends to call police when her drinking buddy has overstayed his welcome. Member to follow-up with the complainant when sober to decide if there is any evidence to charge the male.
