Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. 12:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 500 – Complainant reported a neighbour shooting, two shots in about 30 seconds. Member advised complainant that shooting on rural properties is not necessarily illegal. Under investigation to identify the male shooting.
May 26
3:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/55 Ave – Complainant reported a male driving a white Mustang who looked “out of it.” Member patrolled for the vehicle but it wasn’t located. Members very aware of this vehicle and its driver as both generate multiple police files due to odd activities.
5:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley -55A St – Complainant reported 3 males setting up a camp by the bottle depot; concerned as they have lit fires in the past. Member attended and after some investigation, one male was arrested for Obstruction (providing a false name) and for breaching a previous release order. 37-year-old Shawn OKEYNAN of Drayton Valley was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on four new charges. OKEYNAN was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
9:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Greenwood – Complainant reported that her daughter had been bit by a Pitbull 5 days earlier and today it had stalked her home. Complainant had been told by unknown party to call town bylaw. Member called complainant and left a message, bylaw is the appropriate recourse.
May 27
9:09 a.m. – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a suspicious female by Northside Meadows with a backpack and a dog. Complainant asked her if she was okay, she said she was looking for her dog even though a dog was with her. Member attended and located a known female who was heading to a nearby residence. Member recommended against this as it would likely cause further issues, the female agreed and headed back to town.
11:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant attended the detachment to report that while sleeping someone entered her apartment and assaulted her by using a stun gun on her neck. Complainant pointed to her neck but member observed no marks. Complainant also reported that her doors had remained locked, and her daughter said she hadn’t seen anyone. Member made a referral to CFS and RPACT (Regional Police and Crisis Team) for followup.
4:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Pool – Complainant reported a dog in a truck who looked hot. Complainant indicated the windows were down on the truck. Member attended and found the dogs owner had it out of the vehicle letting it run around. The dog appeared fine; the dog’s human suggested people should “mind their own business”.
6:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported losing his cell phone at Canadian Tire and it was now at an apartment building. Complainant waiting for members to attend. Member attended and spoke to a male who said he found the phone and had returned it to the owner. Complainant contacted and confirmed he had his phone back.
May 29
3:00 p.m. – Tomahawk – Members responded to a complaint that a male had been shot several times with a BB gun after an altercation. Two males were located and arrested and a number of potential weapons were seized. One male was held for a telephone bail hearing while the other suspect was transported to a designated mental health facility for assessment and will be charged later. Under investigation.
3:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 38 St – Complainant reported sending a deposit to buy couches from a female in Wildwood. When she attended to pickup the couches they were gone. Member investigated and determined the deposit was intended as non-refundable and the complainant didn’t pickup the couches when arranged, so the seller re-listed and sold them. Member spoke to both parties and arranged for the deposit to be refunded.
May 30
9:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported a group of teens on a school playground, looked to be underage drinking and smoking. Member attended, group had just come from the Omniplex to play. No alcohol observed, though some had vapes. The group was asked to ensure they were respectful of the property and to not leave a mess.
May 31
7:33 p.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported a red Dodge truck had been stolen from her property, it had been towed away at about 3:00 pm. Member spoke to the tow company and obtained some details. Truck located in Violet Grove and member spoke to a male who provided a bill of sale. Complainant had not registered the truck in her name also provided a bill of sale. Both parties advised to resolve the issue in civil court.
June 1
12:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol observed a truck being driven erratically and possibly trying to evade police. Member spoke to the driver who demanded to know why he was being followed. He was advised of the reasons and told that the ID of his passenger needed to be confirmed as he was on a Peace Bond. Member confirmed the passenger was not listed on the Peace Bond.
1:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member observed a known male in a vehicle with a passenger. The driver is on several prior releases, all with conditions. Member spoke to the two; driver not apparently breaching but the passenger is subject to a curfew with a Calgary address. The passenger claimed his Probation Officer was aware and that he had permission for a specific reason. Member to confirm this with Probation.
