Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. April 13
12:20 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported people using drugs, generally rambling. Member attended his residence at which time the male claimed there were people in his attic. Member took a video of the attic and showed the male no one was up there, though he believed they were just skilled at hiding. Member determined the male had an appointment with his doctor the following day.
11:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol observed a suspicious sedan appear to do it’s best to avoid police. Members subsequently located the car parked on 56 St. The plate attached was expired and the VIN could not be seen. Member had the car towed for further investigation. Car later determined to not be stolen but execution of a search warrant on the car resulted in a number of charges against 23-year-old Mervin Desjarlais. Desjarlais was located and arrested, held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court at a later date.
April 14
9:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 42 Ave – Complainant reported his father came home and was yelling and punching a punching bag. Members attended, dad frustrated as he believed his son was spending too much money and was taking out his frustrations in an appropriate way.
9:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55A Ave – Complainant reported hearing voices, believed they were using electric waves to harm him. Member transported the male to hospital with his consent where the doctor assessed him and determined mental health treatment was required. Member then transported the male to a designated mental health facility for treatment.
April 15
1:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol stopped a truck as the headlights weren’t on. The driver had a learner’s license and no supervisor, had no registration or insurance and provided two “caution” breath samples. Several tickets issued, his license was suspended and his truck impounded.
1:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her daughters’ phone, stolen previously in Airdrie was pinging to various locations in Drayton Valley. Members were eventually able to locate the phone in possession of a local female via investigation and observations. The female was also found to be in possession of various items likely stolen, including ID from other persons. 23-year-old Samara Hammond was held for a telephone bail hearing on multiple charges including possession of stolen property, ID fraud, ID theft, forgery, fraud and theft. The phone was recovered and returned to its owner. Hammond was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court at a later date.
April 16
12:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported that for the second night she can see four lights in the sky, going in a straight line, doesn’t look like a plane. Complainant reported the lights are freaking her out. Member attended but lights no longer visible.
1:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported being assaulted in the bar by another patron after a dispute over drinks. Members attended, complainant had been punched once but didn’t want paramedics to check him and didn’t want the male charged. The heavily intoxicated assailant had been kicked out of the bar by staff.
April 18
4:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Members were told of a male in a room who didn’t look well. Members found the male barely responsive. EMS attended and determined the male was diabetic with low blood sugars.
10:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Member on patrol stopped a vehicle due to expired registration. The driver showed signs of intoxication which was confirmed when she provided two “fail” breath samples. Provincial impaired driving sanctions issued and the car was impounded.
April 19
7:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a female threatening staff and acting violent. Members have dealt with this female multiple times, recently, but on this date it appeared her mental health had deteriorated further as she was making multiple threats to police and staff. Members arrested the female under the Mental Health Act and transported her to a designated mental health facility.
10:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member returned a call to an intoxicated male for follow-up on an earlier file where he had been accused of uttering threats. Under investigation as new information indicates this is a domestic dispute.
