Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. March 16
12:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant called from BC stating he hadn’t talked to his sister in five years and was concerned for her wellbeing. Member had recently spoken with the sister due to a file a couple days prior. Sister is alive and well, wants no contact with her brother. Complainant updated though he wasn’t pleased when told police couldn’t provide him any contact information.
6:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reported a vehicle stunting in the parking lot. Minimal details provided. Member attended, made patrols and spoke to youth in the area, unable to locate the person responsible.
March 17
4:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a vehicle parked for the past five hours with an unknown person inside. Member attended and determined a female had pulled into the lot to sleep as she had been too tired to continue. Female was going to continue on now that she was rested.
3:59 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported she was broken down roadside and a female acquaintance drove by screaming at her. Complainant concerned the other female will go to her residence and steal stuff. As per complainants request the screaming female was spoken to. Police are saddened by this as the two are former friends.
4:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 St – Complainant reported issues with neighbours’ dog. Complainant had been picking up mail when five dogs came out of the house unleashed. Complainant was bit on the hand by one dog. Member spoke to the dog’s owners who were cooperative and removed the one dog from the residence for the meantime. Information forwarded to Animal Control for possible further action.
9:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – OCT parking lot – Complainant reported a hit and run. License plate provided didn’t match the truck shown on video surveillance. Members unable to locate matching vehicle. Under investigation.
11:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Member on patrol observed a vehicle make very wide turns and almost hit either the curb or a parked vehicle on a couple occasions. Traffic stop conducted, two breath samples obtained which both resulted in “fail” readings. Driver issued a provincial suspension and the vehicle was impounded. Reminder: It only takes one split second to ruin your future and injure yourself and others.
March 18
12:30 a.m. – Member on patrol located a male on a motorcycle without a helmet. Traffic stop conducted and a breath sample was obtained, which resulted in a “caution” result. The rider was issued a three days suspension and the motorbike was seized for a seven day impound. Driving impaired is never worth the risk. #DriveSober
2:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – McDonalds – Complainant reported an intoxicated driver, currently in the drive-thru. Member located the vehicle and the driver provided two breath samples, both were “fail” readings. Driver then told the member to “f off” and began walking up the highway. Two other members assisted and the female was located in the treeline and placed under arrest. Due to her actions of obstructing police and actively kicking one of the members she was charged criminally for Obstruction and Assaulting a Peace Officer. She was also issued provincial impaired driving sanctions and her vehicle was impounded. Remember, a crash caused by an impaired driver is not an ‘accident.’ It’s preventable.
March 19
10:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant called 911 to report being assaulted by an acquaintance. Members attended, complainant stated he had been hit on the head with a weight and hit in the face. Members arrested a 49-year-old male who was released to appear in court later. The victim was transported to hospital by EMS for unrelated injuries.
7:40 p.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported that he was receiving harassing texts from both an ex-employee and his father. Complainant advised the male had been fired for stealing fuel. At complainants request both males were advised to stop communicating, both agreed, though the ex employee said he could prove he never stole any fuel.
March 20
12:30 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol passed a vehicle on the bridge, older model SUV. Member was able to query the plate which did not come back attached to any vehicle. Traffic stop attempted but the SUV took off, swerving into the oncoming lane. No pursuit initiated.
12:13 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported several cheques stolen from their residence. One cheque subsequently cashed. Under investigation.
1:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reports his ex’s twin is continuously messaging and harassing him since the break up several months ago. After blocking numbers, she is now messaging from a friend’s phone. This is apparently over a hoodie that the complainant claims to not have and which his ex girlfriend doesn’t care about. Member advised the sister to stop communicating or face charges. It’s never good to sweat over the small stuff.
6:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Complainant reported that her sister and a friend came to her residence and after a dispute over money she was ganged up on and assaulted. Members spoke to the other two females who had attended the detachment as a result of the complainant trying to snatch money from the hand of another. The complainant did not want to provide a statement at the time of the call, telling members to “get the f out of her apartment.” Members complied with this request.
8:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Member making patrols near the dump was told that two males had been shot at around 2:00 a.m. by someone passing by in a red Dodge truck. No injuries sustained. While member was on scene, a truck passed by that the complainant identified as the same truck. The member had pulled the suspect truck over for a minor infraction about a half hour after the alleged incident, so was aware of who was operating the truck at that time. Under investigation.
March 21
1:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment with her adult son reporting a possible scam. Her son had been sent a custody agreement which he had signed and returned; odd as he claims to have never met this female in person. Members are unclear what the fraud would be as the document covers parenting time and isn’t requesting money. Under investigation.
10:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a white sedan stopped, blocking traffic by McDonalds. Subsequent report received of a similar vehicle with an impaired driver, license plate provided. Member located the vehicle and while catching up observed it go through two red lights and then stop in the intersection by 7/11. Traffic stop conducted, driver provided two breath samples; both “fail.” The driver was issued a 90 day suspension from driving under provincial impaired driving sanctions and his car was impounded for 30 days. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for no insurance. Impaired driving has consequences. #DriveSober.
11:40 p.m. – Brazeau County – EMS requested assistance due to a report of two people stabbing each other. Members attended and determined a sister and brother had been arguing while under the influence of alcohol and cannabis, and the sister inflicted a minor stab wound on the brother. EMS treated the male on scene and the sister was transported elsewhere for the night; situation aggravated by mental health concerns but charges likely against the sister. A family member attended the detachment the following evening with a mental health warrant, at which time members located the female who was transported to Red Deer for a mental health assessment. Under investigation.
March 22
8:24 a.m.– Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that two people approached his motel room door and knocked. The complainant didn’t answer but looked through the peep hole and described the pair as “sketchy looking.” After the pair left the complainant drove around for a half hour looking for them, then called police. Members were also unable to locate the two, though door knocking is not yet a crime.
6:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported being harassed by a female threatening to have him fired from his job and that she would get a restraining order. Complainant had lent the female money which she is refusing to pay back. Under investigation.
3:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported two people trying to kick down the door to a motel room. Suspects then left the area on bikes. Member attended but the two were gone. Room occupant said the two left when told police were being called. Video reviewed but unable to make an identification. It was recommended that the occupant change rooms as police had been called to the same room the previous morning for two people knocking; whoever these individuals are looking for they have the wrong address.
