Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. March 9
8:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend near the Legion. Members located 40-year-old Earl Bird nearby. Bird was charged with assault, held for a hearing and released to attend court at a later date.
March 10
3:46 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/47 Ave – Complainant reported a hit and run, possible impaired driver, hit a parked truck and drove off. Member attended and investigated. Plate provided. Members located the owner. The owner was issued a 24-hour suspension and multiple tickets. At that time, it couldn’t be confirmed if in fact the owner had been the driver. Under investigation.
March 11
11:42 a.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported arguing with his brother who threw a pop can (empty) at him. Members suspected that the pop can throwing brother was still upset at having been issued a ticket 45 minutes earlier. One agreed to put down the pop can and go stay at Mom’s for the weekend.
March 12
8:50 p.m. – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Complainant reported a suspicious truck that had got stuck on a rural road. Members located the truck and conducted a traffic stop, identifying both occupants. All documents were in order and the driver was sober, though it’s likely their activities were of a suspicious nature.
March 13
7:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Member responded to a panic alarm, on arrival found an employee had pushed the button as a female had been in the bathroom far longer than normal. Member knocked on the door and a known female exited, then proceeded to buy a coffee. The member then proceeded to place her under arrest due to an outstanding warrant.
11:36 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported that his brother had smashed things and stolen his property. The complainant didn’t see this and had no video evidence or witnesses. Members spoke to the brother and his mother who just wanted to collect some items. The supposed offending brother had been with their mother since the last time police were called two days earlier.
March 14
12:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his travel trailer was stolen, sometime over the past few weeks, from a friend’s property where it was stored. Under investigation.
March 15
12:51 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Staff at a gas station reported a female had locked herself in the bathroom. Members attended and spoke to the female who claimed she was coughing up blood, but didn’t want an ambulance. Members gave her a courtesy ride to the hospital. The female is well known to police.
5:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – EMS requested assistance with an erratic female who was demanding to be taken to hospital, despite being just released (after being taken there by police earlier). Members located EMS and the female, who was observed hitting, spitting on and otherwise trying to damage the ambulance. The female was arrested by members on scene, no actual damage was done.
1:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Dispatch received two calls from an irate, threatening male demanding to know the whereabouts of his sister. The male made numerous threats to police and toward his sisters’ husband at one point stating “he was 6’4” and 350 pounds of pure muscle.” Members are aware that the sister wants no contact and doesn’t want any information given to her brother. Members contacted the detachment in BC where the male resides and requested follow-up. Under investigation, but police in both Drayton Valley and BC RCMP do not believe there to be any real risk as the male has no means to follow through. Under investigation.
6:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complaint of a female apparently under the influence of something, with a baby, in the store. Female was having to use the cart for balance. Members attended and located the female loading the baby into a truck. The female claimed she had been at the dentist and had a tooth pulled and was “all dentisty.” She also claimed her boyfriend was in an adjacent store and he would be driving. Members determined that the boyfriend was non-existent. The female was issued a 24-hour suspension and picked up by a friend. Referral made to CFS for follow-up.
9:31 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant requested police assist in obtaining an indoor grill she had purchased from a male who was now not delivering it. Member attended the male’s residence, obtained the grill without issue and delivered it to the female’s residence. Yet another unique call for service that no training was provided for.
11:01 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Second call of the day from the BC male who is 6’4” of pure muscle. Requesting a welfare check on his sister.
March 16
12:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported three males fighting near the registries office. Members attended and located three males who were apparently no longer fighting. Members spoke to all three who were told to go home. A dispute had arisen over one owing another a beer. Likely all three did not need another beer anyway.
