Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. January 12
7:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff from a business reported a female left behind a purse containing drugs. Member attended and retrieved the purse which was returned to the owner, minus a small quantity of crystal meth. The owner of the purse claimed the drugs belonged to a friend.
January 13
11:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complaint received of a vehicle driving erratically. Second complaint received that this vehicle had struck a car parked near Servus Credit Union. Members had seen this car leaving a local hot spot at high speed and had been looking for it when these calls were received. Members attended and determined the driver was taking a friend to the drug store for Narcan due to an apparent overdose. On arrival the male had been resuscitated and was being checked by paramedics. The driver of the car was charged with driving while disqualified and the car was impounded.
12:23 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Complainant reported a helicopter had been flying low, disrupting his animals for the past 45 minutes. Member contacted the helicopter company who explained they were doing pipeline checks when they noted an area of concern, and were remaining until crews arrived. Complainant updated.
10:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Detachment – Complainant reported her boyfriend had overdosed earlier in the day and she believed he had consumed more drugs and that he might overdose again. Advice was given and member confirmed they were able to contact 911 if required.
January 14
6:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complaint received of an attempted truck theft. Owner left the truck running while he entered a convenience store. A male was dropped off by another vehicle, got in the truck and tried to drive away. The owner then ran out, punched out the drivers window and proceeded to hang from the open window until the suspect hit a barrier. The suspect then fled and was picked up by an accomplice. The owner didn’t pursue due to threats made. Note: Police recommend NOT leaving your vehicle an insecure target for thieves and not to take such action as it puts you in grave danger. Under investigation, possible suspect identified.
January 15
10:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53rd Avenue – Police dispatched to a landlord tenant dispute. Landlord advised the tenants they evicted as of the end of December had not left yet. Member explained the proper court process to eviction and that police cannot just come and remove them.
January 16
8:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Madsen Ave – Police called to investigate a historical sexual assault. Investigation is continuing.
9:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Theft of a suitcase and generator from the back of a pick up reported. Truck was parked in the Best Western parking lot. Members continue to investigate.
12:32 p.m. – Brazeau County – Township 500 – Stolen license plate trailer reported to police. Complainant advised he had driven his trailer from his home to Drayton Valley for repair when he noticed it missing. Unknown if stolen or fell off while driving.
2:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Police called to a report of public Kungfu fighting. Male was in a local business practicing his Kungfu and blocking other customers from using the entrance. Members attended and arrested the male for public intoxication and held him until sober. Male did not practice his Kungfu with the members.
January 17
01:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Report received of an assault by a roommate. Members attended and spoke with both parties involved. After hearing the details members determined it was a consensual roommate fight and that no assault occurred. One of the parties was found to be on warrant and was arrested for their outstanding warrant.
3:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Report received of a fraud complaint. Complainant reported she found an easy load site on Google and has now been defrauded out of $10,000. Investigation continuing.
4:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Call received for assistance with a youth acting up. Complainant advised they wished for the police to come scare their granddaughter to help get her to comply with them. Members explained that police do not do this.
7:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Police were called to an explosion at the St. Anthony’s School soccer field. Caller advised she could see two headlamps out in the field blow something up and then try to do it again. Members attended, but the suspects had fled. Members walked the field and located a bunch of hairspray cans laying around. It appears that a group of teens raided their mother’s cabinets and had some fun.
7:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Police called to an assault that happened the previous day. Members attended and spoke with the victim who was extremely high. It was determined the assault the victim was talking about was a consensual fight police had been called to previously. EMS had attended with police and transported the female to the hospital.
January 18
9:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Police called to the shelter Pods as two visitors had stayed past their time. They were refusing to leave and had locked themselves inside their pod. Members attended, and after speaking with the occupants they left. Damage was noted in the Pod after they left. Police to follow up with mischief charges.
12:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complaint received of a child being removed from school with out his mother’s permission. Members followed up with the complainant and CFS. Complainant does not have primary custody of her child, and no custody order in place. No offence occurred, complainant advised to get a custody order in family court if she is having these issues.
5:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Theft of three cases of beer reported from the Omniplex. Two cases were recovered as the thief was overly ambitious and could not carry all 3 while running away. Male identified, but complainant requested no charges to be laid.
6:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Police called about a homeless male sleeping in the bank. Members attended and removed the male, and advised him to head over to the pods as they open at 8 p.m.
