Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. January 5
4:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complaint received of an intoxicated male sleeping in an alley behind a business. Member attended and located the male who had been dealt with at 1:10 p.m. This time the male was arrested and lodged in cells until he was sober.
8:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Meraw Estates – Complainant reported hearing gunshots, near new school. Member made patrols but failed to locate anything. Member spoke to the complainant whose description of the shots was indicative of either fireworks or a gun battle. No further reports received.
11:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported concern for her son’s wellbeing due to some recent family issues. Members located the male who was transported to hospital at his request. Referral made to assisting agency.
January 6
9:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported her 2004 GMC pickup stolen from a parking lot. Video surveillance showed a red Ford sedan drop off a suspect who gained entry to the truck and left headed north. Video not sufficient to ID a suspect. The truck was recovered on the 9th in Rocky Mountain House where video may reveal a viable suspect.
7:10 p.m.– Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported a truck idling unoccupied outside the store. Member tried to contact the RO without success, patrol made to the area but the truck was gone. Complainant had been concerned it would be stolen.
January 7
12:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St/50 Ave – Member on patrol located a license plate previously reported stolen. The truck the plate was attached to was confirmed to not be stolen. A male known to police advised the truck was his and provided a bill of sale. The male was arrested for possession of stolen property and released to appear in court at a later date.
8:58 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR71 – Member on patrol observed a County Peace Officer conducting a traffic stop. Member subsequently flagged down by the Peace Officer who suspected the driver was impaired. Member formed the same belief and obtained a breath sample. The driver was issued provincial impaired driving sanction and the vehicle was impounded.
January 8
7:53 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a former friend had stolen some of her property while staying with the complainant. Members attended the suspect’s residence where the complainant was waiting. Member attended and assisted by mediating a suitable solution resulting in the return of “most” of the complainant’s property.
8:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported two suspicious males in bank ATM area. Members attended and removed both, one of the males was arrested on unrelated matters.
January 9
8:06 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported an armed robbery that occurred about 12 hours earlier. A tall slim male and a short female entered the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. Investigation ongoing, response was hampered as the call was reported in Edmonton and the information was not forwarded to Drayton Valley.
10:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/52 St – Member attended a single vehicle collision and determined the driver was impaired. Provincial sanctions issued for operating while impaired and the vehicle was impounded. The driver was also ticketed for driving while suspended and charged with breaching a release condition.
January 10
6:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/near Twp Rd 502 – Multiple complaints received regarding a multi-vehicle collision involving two semi’s with a male apparently struck on the highway. Members attended and determined that a semi had been stopped, mostly on the highway, in heavy fog. A second semi pulling a gravel trailer was unable to stop, striking the first stopped semi and jackknifing, blocking the highway. This resulted in three more vehicles striking the truck on the road, as well as three more ending up in the west ditch, two hitting each other. One of those vehicles ended up striking the driver of the first truck who had been out on the highway. Visibility was a factor. The male struck on the highway was transported to hospital in Edmonton with serious injuries. Under investigation.
8:53 a.m. – Brazeau County – Ring Rd – Complainant reported an online fraud. Deposit placed on some appliances on Facebook Marketplace. Ad is now removed and the address provided was incorrect. Under investigation.
12:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Library – Members responded to a physical altercation between two males. Witnesses indicated that an older male had instigated the incident with a 17-year-old male. The younger male didn’t want charges, though the matter is still under investigation. Members were upset at not being able to say “book him” as the older male had left prior to police arriving.
4:20 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 500 – Complainant reported his vehicle was attacked by a herd of deer that ran out in front of him. One deer hit the vehicle in the driver’s door. Minimal damage done to the vehicle, the aggressive herd remains at large.
10:54 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Curfew check done on male with Conditional Sentence Order. Another resident thought he may be at work. Member aware that the male doesn’t have a work exemption at the moment. Under investigation.
11:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a red Dodge pickup. Investigation resulted in the female driver being issued three tickets and given a court date. The vehicle was impounded as she was suspended from driving.
January 11
6:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Female complainant called wishing to speak to a specific member. Another member who was available contacted her and determined she was sad and wanted someone to talk to. Complainant not suicidal and was directed to contact 211 to reach out for some more appropriate services.
8:05 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member attended a two vehicle collision, about 1km south of the intersection with Hwy 39. A car and a welding truck sideswiped each other in heavy fog. The car was towed from the scene, unclear which vehicle was at fault as it would have been difficult to see the road lines.
11:39 a.m.– Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Complainant reported that her dog “Boner” had been stolen from behind the Econorest. Member contacted Town Peace Officer who was able to confirm Boner had been turned in to the animal shelter and that he would reach out to the complainant to ensure Boner made it back home.
January 12
01:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a verbal argument between a couple while having some drinks. The couple then left the residence. Members later located the lovers at 711 causing a disturbance by yelling at each other in the store, both parties were split up for the night.
