Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. December 29
1:56 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 85/Hwy 621 – Complainant reported an erratic driver. Member attended and located the vehicle. The driver was issued a 24 hour suspension and arrested on an unrelated traffic warrant issued by Alberta Sheriffs. The female driver was released to appear in court at a later date.
7:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S/Hwy 22 – Member on patrol ran a license plate and found it was expired since January 2022. Traffic stop conducted and it was found the driver’s license had also recently expired and he was unable to produce valid insurance. Several tickets were issued.
10:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a female was having a small fire off a laneway by a tree. Members attended and found a known female with a tiny, dying fire. The female explained she was having a “cleansing ritual” and had been burning all her bad and negative thoughts she had written down. Members felt it was not their place to intervene.
December 30
8:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported that sometime over the past few days someone entered his truck, rummaged around and stole his wallet. Under investigation as an unknown malefactor used his debit card and there may be video capturing the crime.
11:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended to a report of a deceased female. Paramedics were on scene and it was determined the death was not suspicious. Investigation turned over to Medical Examiner.
12:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant called wanting information on who to call about street and sidewalk cleaning. Complainant reports she has fallen on the ice and can’t even check her mail. Member advised her to contact the Town for the roads and that the sidewalks were the responsibility of residents.
1:53 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/RR71 – Complainant reporting that her trucks rear wheel hub had caught fire. Members attended, complainant had extinguished the fire with snow and had already called a tow truck.
2:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – RCMP detachment – A male attended to turn himself in on an outstanding warrant. While being searched incidental to arrest, member located a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles). The male was charged accordingly.
9:26 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR73 – Complainant reported that he started talking to a female, allegedly from Edmonton, earlier today and sent her a picture of his manly features. The “female” is now demanding $300 or she’ll post the pictures. Advice given (just don’t!), under investigation.
December 31
2:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complaint received of a male pointing a firearm at him in the parking lot of the IGA after the two of them had a dispute. The male then left in his black Range Rover. Members located the Range Rover and the male matching the description. Male was arrested. Vehicle seized and search warrant obtained to search the Range Rover for the gun. A 31-year-old Drayton Valley man was charged with pointing a firearm as a result of this incident. A bail hearing was held for him and he was released on conditions. He is set to appear in Drayton Valley court on January 17, 2023.
6:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 40 Avenue – Police were called to a report of a domestic assault. Mother of the victim called in that her daughter was assaulted by her boyfriend. Police continue to investigate.
January 1 – HAPPY NEW YEAR!
02:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Police were called to a possible impaired driver in a Nissan Pathfinder driving erratically on 50 Street, hitting the ditch, doing donuts and almost hitting the complainant. Members were out on patrol and attempted to locate the vehicle but were unable.
3:49 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Members conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle hit a pole. Driver found to be impaired and provincial sanctions were enforced. Driver also found to be wanted out of Calgary City Police. Driver arrested on his warrants.
6:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Police called to assist EMS with a male covered in blood at the Fas Gas. Members attended, male highly intoxicated on a combination of alcohol and drugs. Male alleged he was assaulted at the Oil Country Taphouse. Male cleared by EMS and returned home to his residence.
8:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Police were called to a theft of a truck from the Westwind parking lot. Vehicle has a tracker and was showing in Edson. Complainant worked with police and the vehicle was eventually recovered by Evansburg RCMP. Driver was arrested and charges were laid out of Evansburg and are pending out of Edson for committing a break enter while there.
9:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Police called to an assault at the shelter pods. Members attended and spoke with the victim who alleged she was assaulted by her cousin. Investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
January 2
1:26 p.m. – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Court – Police called to a landlord tenant dispute. Landlord was trying to serve an eviction notice and the tenant would not open the door. Police advised the landlord to place the eviction notice under or on the door and make notes on the interaction.
3:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Police received a request for a wellness check on an employee as the employer cannot get a hold of him and this is not normal. Members located the male who advised he had a fight with someone at work so was not answering their calls.
January 3
4:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Police called to a paranoid male with a knife. Male believed that the individuals that he had fought with at the bar on New Years Eve were going to come find him in his apartment. Members attended, male had no rational thought, was transported to the hospital.
10:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Police received a complaint of a man standing on the top of a dumpster yelling at people. Members attended and located the male. Male was going through a mental health episode and voluntarily went to the hospital and admitted himself.
5:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant called police advising he had sublet his apartment to two males, and now they had changed the locks and will not let him back in. Members called the complainant back, advised they can not forcefully enter their way into the apartment and to contact his landlord for assistance. Advised if they felt unsafe, police would attend with them.
11:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Police received a missing person report. Complainant reported her boyfriend had gone to the hospital today and has not returned. Members followed up with the hospital, boyfriend was admitted and was fine.
January 4
9:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 Avenue – Complaint received about a grey/blue Chrysler 300 driving erratically. Members located the vehicle matching the description. Traffic stop was conducted with the vehicle and the male was warned about his driving pattern.
10:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complaint received of three teenagers throwing eggs at vehicles. The trio took off running when he stopped his vehicle. Members made patrols in the area but were unable to locate the kids.
10:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Boulevard – Police were dispatched to a homeless male sleeping outside the Points West Retirement home. Members attended and located the male. Male given a courtesy ride to the shelter pods.
