Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. November 24
9:19 a.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported her boyfriend threatened to burn down her trailer. Members made various attempts but were unable to locate the complainant, but did locate the suspect who seemed entirely unaware of why police were there. Under investigation.
9:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Complainant reported that an Amazon package was stolen three days ago, and now someone was selling a matching item online. Members located both parties and determined that unfortunately there was no proof it was the same item or any evidence to show who stole the item. The suspect also claimed it had already been sold and to an unknown party.
November 25
2:31 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39/RR 63 – Members responded to a serious collision between a semi trailer and a pickup truck. A semi truck had stopped after hitting a deer and encountering mechanical issues, the pickup drove into the rear of the semi seriously injuring the driver. Driver was extricated from the truck by firefighters and transported to hospital via STARS with serious but not life threatening injuries. Under investigation.
10:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that the previous evening someone entered his hotel room via master key, took his truck key, entered his truck, stole his German Shepherd puppy, and returned the keys to his room along with the master key. Complainant and a friend had left the dog in the truck while they went for a drink. Member reviewed surveillance video and determined the complainant had returned very intoxicated and while trying to clean up vomit left in a taxi had opened his truck. The dog is seen on video exiting the truck and eventually wandering off the property. The complainant was very apologetic. Members were unable to locate the dog at the time.
6:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Walmart lot – Complaint of road rage incident. Under investigation, but possibly caused by stressful “Black Friday” shopping.
November 26
10:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – HW Pickup area – Complainant reported a coyote injured and needing to be euthanized. Member attended and located the injured coyote who proved to be very Wile E, managing to flee. Member unable to relocate the coyote. Fish and Wildlife Officers advised.
4:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported a suspicious package by a mailbox wrapped in Christmas paper. Complainant suspected teens of putting dog feces in it. Ignoring personal risk the attending officer opened the suspicious package and found it to be empty. Likely a prop that fell of a float from the Christmas parade the previous evening.
November 27
10:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious male outside a business, reportedly vomiting. Member responded, male had left. Male was located later and taken to a family member’s residence.
1:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member responded to a panic alarm at a hotel. Member and the front desk clerk traced the issue to water leaking on the alarm system. Panic averted.
2:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a white Kia cut him off and ran several stop signs. Registered owner contacted and warned, though she stated she didn’t think her husband. would run stop signs.
November 28
1:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Third party complaint of a physical domestic. Members attended but the parties had left the residence. Under investigation, charges likely.
9:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 61 St – Complainant reported theft of a bulldozer in progress at a company yard. Members attended and determined the bulldozer was being “stolen” by the company who had sent someone to pick it up as it had a mechanical issue. Unfounded.
12:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported a homeless male acting weird and refusing to leave a business. Suspect left once complainant’s brother told him to. Members located the male shortly after and told him to not return. This male has singlehandedly generated 30 similar police files since October 1.
12:30 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39/Hwy 759 – Complainant reported cows out near the intersection, concerned they may be hit by vehicles. Member attended but were unable to locate any cows outside of the fences. Likely they had moooved on.
2:45 p.m. – Tomahawk – 911 road rage incident. Complainant calling to report that a pickup had pulled in front of logging truck he was a passenger in and refusing to move. Pickup driver was claiming right of way because the road was his street. Members attended and determined the pickup driver was exiting his driveway when the logging truck crested a hill and went around the pickup. Pickup driver took offence to this. Parties were located and spoken to, under investigation.
10:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported that an “unofficial employee” took a donation bin with several hundred dollars in it off the counter while performing some routine night duties. Under investigation, suspect confirmed via video surveillance.
November 30
5:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – file opened to investigate possible drug trafficking by an individual.
December 1
1:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 34 Avenue – Theft of a fire pit reported. Complainant reported that a fire pit that was in the parking lot was stolen last month. Complainant to look for video footage to provide to police. Matter is still under investigation.
