Not only will Drayton Valley’s new aquatic facility be fun, but it will be energy efficient as well.
The Town of Drayton Valley has announced that the Ricochet Oil Corp. Aquatic Centre’s solar power system is now online.
In a statement, the Town boasts that the solar power system is made up of 634 solar modules and four inverters. It is capable of producing 304 kW of power.
As the Aquatic Centre is not completed yet, the power being generated is being fed into the power grid. But once the facility comes online, the power will be used by the facility with the excess going back into the grid.
The solar power system was paid for by the Government of Alberta through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre’s Alberta Municipal Solar Program, and a $100,000 sponsorship grant from Pembina Pipeline Corporation.
The Ricochet Oil Corp. Aquatic Centre is still on track to open in Fall 2022.
