Valley Mist Health opened its doors to the public in February of 2018. Drayton Valley’s resident acupuncturist, Barb Burnes, had retired. After meeting with Barb, the team at Valley Mist Health knew that they could make a difference by providing a desperately needed service.
Valley Mist Health started in a small clinic with two treatment rooms. In 2019, the centre expanded to three treatment rooms which allowed them to handle a backlog of patients. In 2021, the centre expanded once more – this time, to five treatment rooms, allowing them to better serve patients, and to help more people.
The team at Valley Mist Health understands the importance of supporting the community because that is the only way a community can truly grow. When a community is divided, it cannot become stronger – it cannot see clearly where its efforts can do the most good. Valley Mist Health has always believed that when we come together, we can use our time, energy, and resources on things that help our local economy and help our fellow citizens.
As health care providers, Valley Mist Health is fortunate to be able to help people with pain, neuropathies, anxiety, and depression, all of which are prevalent in the community during these times. Offering acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and other alternative and complementary treatments.
As a business, Valley Mist Health buys local as much as possible. They are blessed to have many local small businesses who provide for their operating needs with cleaning supplies, answering service, stationery, flooring, furnishings, draperies/blinds, and even meals and events.
Says Valley Mist Health, “It has been our pleasure to work alongside our valued front-line workers to improve the health of the community.” To the dedicated front-line workers, Valley Mist Health says, “Thank You for all you do, today and every day.”
