OK Tire in Drayton Valley opened their doors in September 2008 when co-founder Travis Schneider saw potential in two local guys, Jason Doerksen and Ryan Lien, and decided that the three of them should start a company.
“We are a family,” says Travis. “Many of us spend our non-work hours together as well. We work hard but we love to have fun! Almost all of our team is local. We were born and raised in the community.”
Being independently owned and locally operated means OK Tire Drayton Valley understands the importance of supporting the community. They do so in a number of ways, including supplying tires for the Zamboni at the OmniPlex, supporting Cause for Critters and the Beehive, and donating to Santa’s Anonymous and The Food Bank. They also sponsor Drake’s Handi Bus and the Max Centre, and participate in hockey, curling and other fundraisers. Recently they joined with three other locally owned companies and raised a good sum of cash for Warming Hearts and the Pembina Crisis Connection Society.
“We have been supporting our community for years,” says Travis. “If you don’t support your community, why should they support you? Your community consists of your neighbours, friends and family. So does your customer AND employee base! A strong, well supported community is safer, happier, healthier…. it’s better for everyone.”
So how does OK Tire plan on Amping Up the Community in the future?
“We have some other ideas up our sleeves yet,” hints Travis, “but they are still in the process of coming to life.”
Besides a vast selection of tires for vehicles, trailers, ATVs and more, OK Tire Drayton Valley also provides full auto service including oil changes, brakes, steering and suspension work, alignments, and more, as well as an extensive assortment of premium accessories.
