The Government of Alberta is expanding availabilities for kids to get their COVID-19 vaccination.
On Mar. 2, Alberta Health Services (AHS) announced they will be temporarily expanding COVID-19 pediatric immunization walk-in appointment times throughout the province. This will provide additional opportunities for families with children between the ages of five and 11 to get the vaccine, if they so choose.
From Mar. 2 to 16, several local AHS vaccination clinics will be open on weekday evenings from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on weekends from noon to 6 p.m. to accommodate pediatric walk-in appointments.
In Drayton Valley, the clinic will be at the Drayton Valley COVID Fast Track Site.
To find a clinic closer to you, you can check www.ahs.ca/vaccine.
Several pharmacies will be participating by extending their hours. You can find a pharmacy near you by checking ab.bluecross.ca.
Parents and guardians can continue booking their vaccine appointments online at bookvaccine.alberta.ca, or by calling 811.
When you bring in your child for their vaccine, you will need to bring their Alberta Health Care card if they have one, and identification that proves the child’s age. Parents and children will need to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer when visiting the site.
